Wow! We have grown so much in the area of literacy stations. The students are working independently on a variety of literacy activities. I am so impressed with the work that they are doing during this time.
Many of the stations use a recording sheet. These sheets come home each Monday in their folder. Use the recording sheet as a way to talk about the skills that we are developing. It is also very important that students are learning to use their independent time wisely. If many of the recording sheets are mostly blank, it may be helpful to talk with your Kindergartener about how important using time wisely and responsibility is.

Caterpillars
Our caterpillars have arrived and they have delivered a dose of excitement with their arrival.
We will observe our caterpillars over the next 14ish days to discover more about their life cycle.
Throughout the process we will look closely like scientists to notice and record small changes in our journals.

Lucky Charm Math
We used our lucky charms to practice math skills.
First we measured. Then we sorted and counted. Next we tallied.
Finally we graphed our marshmallow types.
Nifty!
I came across these cute little notes and thought it was a great idea!

Leprechaun Shennanigans
When we got to school this morning we were surprised to find that someone had been in our classroom.
The clues helped us figure out that it had been a leprechaun.
It was a good thing that we had traps. We set them up around the room in hope of catching the little guy so he could lead us to a pot of gold. There were so many creative ideas for catching him. As well as questions that we wanted to ask him once we did catch him!
In the end, he was just too sneaky. We never did catch him.
But he did leave a little note and some gold for each student before travelling back to Ireland!
Author Celebration: How To Writing
We recently finished our How-To books. I am so proud of the work that the boys and girls put into their writing. And I know that they are proud of them too. Today we shared our writing with Ms. Krueger's class who also recently finished their books.
