Writing
We have been very busy during writing time! It is amazing to watch these young writers make so much progress since they began kindergarten!
After we came back from Christmas we talked about how we use writing on a daily basis. We learned that writers don't only write books but also many other types of writing: lists, recipes, notes, letters, schedules, menus, reminder notes, etc.

To Do Lists
Grocery Lists
Letters
Menus
We learned about personal narrative writing at the beginning of the year. Now we are getting back into that and working on raising the quality. We are zooming in to the small moments from our lives and doing our best to describe the beginning, middle, and end of the moment in detail.
We are also making sure our writing is ready for readers! We will put a stronger focus on spacing between words, punctuation, capitalization, and the correct spelling of sight words!
Their writing impresses me everyday!
When practicing writing at home, encourage your kindergartener to listen for all of the sounds. We are working toward proficiency in spelling beginning and ending consonant sounds as well as short vowel sounds!

Ice Castles
This six weeks we are learning about cooling and heating. We built ice castles and observed them as the ice melted into water.
Checking the Temperature
We also visited the freezer in the cafeteria where we checked the temperature.
