Ten Little Fish

We have been learning to show "how many" with objects. To practice our learning and have a little fun we acted out the book "Ten Little Fish" with our snack on Wednesday.

Patterning

We are learning more about patterning every day!

We are learning about all types of patterns and how to label patterns.

Library Day!

On Wednesday we visited Mrs. Rhodes in the library. The kids learned about loving and taking care of books. And then.... they got to check out their own book! Boy oh boy! They were so very excited.

I hope that these books have been well loved while visiting your homes. Please enjoy them.
But don't forget to return library books each Wednesday.
The children must return their book in order to check out a new one.

A Special Color Mixing Snack

I love your kids!

I just wanted to take a minute to let you know how much I enjoy spending each day with your children. I feel so lucky to be their teacher. They fill my days with laughs, cheer, brightness, discoveries, and enthusiasm. Wouldn't have it any other way. Thank you for trusting me with them.

September Scholastic Book Orders

Click on the blue image below to browse the books and place an online order.

Book Boxes

Today we filled and read from our book boxes for the first time. Book boxes give the children opportunities to choose books they are interested in from the classroom library to read during independent reading time. Right now we have picture books in our baskets to practice and learn routines. Next week we will add in leveled books. These will be essential in each student's literacy journey as they will provide experiences for reading independently and applying the reading strategies that we will learn this year.

Math Stations

Today we introduced math stations. This will be a time of the day to work with a small group to practice and reinforce math skills. This week we are practicing patterning in all of our stations.

Our favorite books!

Oh my! Was this fun!

We have learned that book lovers cherish and love books. Today we learned about each other's favorite special books. The kids were overflowing with pride sharing their books. It was awesome.

Don't worry if your kiddo didn't bring their book today. We will continue to share all week.

Make a pattern with two colors...

Today we began talking about patterns.

We made patterns with sounds, movements, and with colors.

Meet Mat Man!

Today we learned about Mat Man and practiced drawing him!

Building and drawing Mat Man is an important pre-writing activity that will prepare the students for illustrating and writing. I noticed many students paying more attention to detail and working on those fine motor skills during this activity today.
