The Candy Corn Bandit

On Wednesday we were in for a surprise.

We had big plans to eat candy corn while reading Halloween books at Readers Workshop. It was a really big deal.

But when we returned from CAMP, our candy corn was missing. It had been replaced with this note!

This was not good! 

But the note he left told us that with our best predictions we could figure out this mystery. 

But what is a prediction?

Before we read the first clue, we made some predictions about what the candy corn bandit would look like and where he might be with our treats!

Then we read the clues to begin our search! There was even a candy corn trail. 

We followed the clues to the cafeteria, to the gym, outside, to the library, then finally back to the classroom!

As we searched, we made more predictions about why this silly bandit would want our candy. Why did he do it today? And we thought about what it would be like to be his friend. 

Thank goodness when we got back to the classroom, our treat had been returned!

We enjoyed our sweet treat while we recorded predictions about why he took our candy.
