Remembering September 11th

 

In our classroom, we remembered September 11th by focusing on the heroes and patriotism that came of that day.

 

We practiced saying the pledge and discussed why it was important.

 

We read the book, September 12th: We Knew Everything Would Be All Right.

The book was written by a group of first grade students. It emphasizes the things that were still the same on the 12th and talks about the showing of patriotism and community in our country.

 We discussed everyday heroes such as police officers, fire fighters, and soldiers. The children chose one of those three to write a thank you note to.
